Could you romance me like I do?
when I wake up in a good mood
like I was the sun and the moon
gold silver lighting up my room
the mirror reflecting my truth
my love reaching my eyes,
shining bright, smiling through
I tuck my hair softly at the back of my ear
my hands brushing the ends through
Could you romance me like I do?
when the clouds gather in the afternoon
I sit grumpy in my room
upset because I peaked too early
and I need a good lunch to overcome
that flatness entering my mood
so I cook myself a hot and spicy lamb stew
I let the love slip into my stomach
like a child being cured of silly blues
Could you romance me like I do?
letting my exhaustion rest in my arms
my mind whispers, “even tired, you’re so beautiful”
my heart sighs out a smile like an energy boost
my lips may not reach my forehead but
the back of my palm is quite sensitive too
my sofa gives a gentle push saying
do what you got to do, i will wait for you
Could you romance me like I do?
letting my feet up on the arm rest
the back of my ankles pressing into
simply because it feels so good
relief spreading through my calves
reaching up my hamstrings too
stretching my arms out, my spine curling too
I close my eyes, embracing my senses
as my muscle and bone massage my skin, pressing through
Could you romance me like I do?
I carry me to my bed that awaits my warmth
the covers kiss me goodnight head to toe
the nape of my neck feels the pillow
and the other one I hold close to my chest
I slide gently into sleep forgetting all else
and sometimes the night has me dreaming too
it holds me underwater, sometimes paralysing too
and yet the thick and thin I ride through
Could you romance me like I do?
up and down through all my moods?
holding space for all the versions I turn into?
my spirit never abandons,
accompanied by my soul I come through
my life force guides me to places new
and my heart always singing I love you
so please, I ask you that if nothing else—
could you just romance me like I do?
