I said I am a woman
and also not
I am a man
but also never was
you wish to define me so bad
that I become water seeping through the land
I find myself moving
sometimes up and at other times sideways
and when i’m forced
I push through and break
sometimes people, sometimes places
I cannot deny myself authenticity
or refuse my own nature
that you seem to want to contain
when you ask me my gender
or look at me with your own conclusion
your lack of curiosity, infringes on my space
not comprehending my fluidity
you let rigidity invade
between you and me
you try to remain rooted
and I fly away
despite the gravity
the flow I embrace
the lines between
the land and the sea
and the sea and the sky
are only drawn twice a day
when the horizon shows up
in the setting and the rising of the sun
and at all other times I remain
undefined, undrawn
merged in everything
and also none at all
I am here
and never visible
I am seen
and then unheard
I am acknowledged
without a presence
My presence can be rattling
if you have never truly seen yourself
my authenticity might make you curious
not about me, but yourself
sometimes I’m revered
around people with wisdom
I am everywhere
and nowhere at once
I am everyone
and also no one
